There are 2 Monsoon Seasons in Singapore, the Northeast Monsoon Season and the Southwest Monsoon Season.
Northeast Monsoon Season: Dec-Mar
This monsoon is split into 2 phases, the “Wet phase” (Dec-Jan) and “Dry phase” (Feb-Mar). During the wet phase, one will experience continuous heavy rainfall in the afternoons and early evening. However the rain will start to thin towards end of Jan. By Feb, which is the dry phase, the climate will become comfortably cool with little or no rain.
Southwest Monsoon Season: Jun-Sep
During this season, there will be showers and thunderstorms between pre-dawn to midday. Heavy rain will persist for 1-2 hours in the early morning, followed by light rain and cloudy conditions till midday. However, this period also experience hot and dry spells in the afternoon.
Haze Period: Jun-Oct
Despite the morning monsoon during this period, the climate will become dry and hot in the afternoon. Hence this season is also the haze period. It starts from June at a lower PSI, and gradually increase through the next 3 months. If the El Nino phenomenon occurs, meaning there will be dry spells in this region, the condition of the haze will amplify and extend into October.
The weather in Singapore starts to get hotter from Mid-April onwards.
